Visual Studio Code is a very popular and used software to run node.js scripts. In this article, we will create a very basic node.js script. What we want to do is just go through the process of how to run a Script successfully. So what you need to do is open up the Visual Studio Basic Software. Visual Studio Code is able to detect that this is a Node.js project, and as a result, automatically downloaded the TypeScript typings file for Node.js from NPM. The typings file allows you to get autocompletion for other Node.js globals, such as Buffer and setTimeout, as well as all of the built-in modules such as fs and http.

Visual Studio Code supports debugging of many languages and platforms via debuggers that are either built-in or contributed by extensions.

To make it easier to get started with debugging, we have made a collection of debugging 'recipes' which contain the steps and configuration you need to set up debugging for your favorite platform. The recipes are in GitHub at https://github.com/microsoft/vscode-recipes.
