Ford ZF 5 or 6 speed in a 79 - posted in 73-79 Ford Truck Tech Support: I'm thinking about swapping my np 435 4 speed tranny for a ford ZF 5 or maybe 6 speed tranny. I know that the ZF was use on 460 and 7.3 Desiles. And a 400M has a big block bell housing bolt pattern. Has any one done this. Does any one have any ideas. 4/4 Engine Speed Rate of Turn: 6.7º/s at 29.3kts It's ZF-6's low top speed that gets her in trouble. She's one of the slowest destroyers at her tier and indeed, within her matchmaking spread. Only Shiratsuyu, Yudachi, Akizuki, Fen Yang, Jutland are slower. The ZF 6 Speed's lightweight and mostly aluminum design was manufactured specifically with the Powerstroke engine in mind. It can be found in Ford F250, F350, F450 Super Duty Pickups. The ZF 6 Speed comes in two different models the S6-650 and S6-750.
